It also helps him to get some extra one-on-one time with his humans, as he has to compete with several other household cats for petting. This kind of behavior, while unusual, is not unknown in cats. It usually begins with an instinctual reach up to get the attention of a human caregiver. When that behavior is rewarded with extra attention, the cat may learn to associate stretching its front paws up with affection. However, some viewers question whether the owners are helping Franzie by placing their hands underneath his front legs.
